Black History Month Celebration Banquet In 2008, the vision among the African-American Museum Board of Directors started as a celebration of community leaders, displaying to the masses the good works that have been done by people who have extraordinary talent, vision, and leadership to uplift the community as a whole to greater heights. This would be done annually through the Black History Month Celebration: a plaque on the wall every year to present these greats eternally to the community and to patrons of the African-American Museum became the tradition. About the Trailblazer Awards: The Trailblazer awards honors Black first and community leaders, and activists who have gone above and beyond their professional duties, and above and beyond what the average person would do. Kiss (often stylized as KISS) is an American rock band formed in New York City in January 1973 by Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Peter Criss, and Ace Frehley. Well known for its members’ face paint and stage outfits, the group rose to prominence in the mid-to-late 1970s with their elaborate live performances, which featured fire breathing, blood-spitting, smoking guitars, shooting rockets, levitating drum kits, and pyrotechnics. The band has gone through several lineup changes, with Stanley and Simmons the only remaining original members. The original and best-known lineup consisted of Stanley (vocals and rhythm guitar), Simmons (vocals and bass), Frehley (lead guitar and vocals), and Criss (drums and vocals). With their make-up and costumes, they took on the personae of comic book-style characters: The Starchild (Stanley), The Demon (Simmons), The Spaceman or Space Ace (Frehley), and The Catman (Criss). Due to creative differences, both Criss and Frehley had departed the group by 1982.

The Brothers Four Performing at The Tower Theatre – Folk artists The Brothers Four have many hits including such releases as Greenfields, Yellow Bird, Try to Remember, Across the Wide Missouri. Their hit recording of The Green Leaves of Summer from the motion picture “The Alamo” was nominated for an Academy Award and they performed the song at the awards presentation for the global network telecast. The Brothers Four were pioneers in the musical movement which came to be known as the “folk revival”, and of the few groups from those times still performing today, they remain one of the best known and most popular. Their all-acoustic presentation consists of guitars, banjo, mandolin, upright bass, and of course the trademark rich blend of their four voices. An evening with this quartet is an unforgettable time of pure, acoustic music and entertainment. YouTube Link
Atmosphere: Mi Vida Loca Tour It’s a different place than it was two years ago, when Atmosphere released their last record, Fishing Blues. Their seventh album, Mi Vida Local, reflects the ways in which the world–and their place in it–has changed. The idyllic domesticity of the past few records has morphed into anxiety over keeping loved ones safe during turbulent times. The easygoing collaboration between Ant and Slug has started to feel more like the life-or-death intimacy of two men trapped together on a lifeboat. At times, Mi Vida Local is a heavy album, (“I might be the last generation of grandparents,” goes a key line from “Virgo”), but it’s far from grim. As the name implies, Mi Vida Local is intensely focused on the place it was created–the southside of Minneapolis–where Slug and Ant work tirelessly in their “beautiful basements”, refining their sound without interruption, save for a handful of Minneapolis friends that showed up to contribute. The album pairs complex subject matter with equally deep beats–ones that show a clear lineage back to the psychedelic funk landmarks from an earlier era where America was going through a post-utopian hangover, and prove that there won’t ever be a time where boom-bap beats […]

With such a communicative voice and style and a great sense of musical adventurousness, combined with unmatched technique, there’s really no emotion she can’t tackle musically. She’s the total package. Oh, and then there’s the trombone! She’s in a class all by herself ” – DAVE KOZ

Wicked, the Broadway sensation, looks at what happened in the Land of Oz…but from a different angle. Long before Dorothy arrives, there is another girl, born with emerald-green skin—smart, fiery, misunderstood and possessing an extraordinary talent. When she meets a bubbly blonde who is exceptionally popular, their initial rivalry turns into the unlikeliest of friendships…until the world decides to call one “good,” and the other one “wicked.” With a thrilling score that includes the hits “Defying Gravity,” “Popular” and “For Good,” Wicked has been hailed by The New York Times as “the defining musical of the decade.” Time Magazine cheers, “if every musical had the brain, the heart, and the courage of Wicked, Broadway really would be a magical place.”
