The annual Clovis Rotary Crab Feed is held every year in February at the Clovis Veteran’s Memorial District. This event is the sole fundraiser for our club in recent years and features all-you-can-eat fresh crab complete with salad, pasta, dessert and a hosted open bar (drinks are on us). Many of our regular attendees come from other parts of the State. Our Clovis Rotary Crab Feed is far more than just a wonderful dinner. It includes a very large silent auction with over 300 items and also a raffle of great items, and more! Our live auctions in the past included helicopter rides, getaways to foreign lands, a weekend on a private yacht, catered dinners and much, much more – all sold during a lively and entertaining auction with a professional auctioneer. Of course the reason we hold this fundraiser is to help support the numerous projects of our club, many of which are described on the About Us page on this website. Another benefit of our Crab Feed is that it provides an opportunity for over 75 high school Interact members to learn the value of community service. The Brothers Four Performing at The Tower Theatre – Folk artists The Brothers Four have many hits including such releases as Greenfields, Yellow Bird, Try to Remember, Across the Wide Missouri. Their hit recording of The Green Leaves of Summer from the motion picture “The Alamo” was nominated for an Academy Award and they performed the song at the awards presentation for the global network telecast. The Brothers Four were pioneers in the musical movement which came to be known as the “folk revival”, and of the few groups from those times still performing today, they remain one of the best known and most popular. Their all-acoustic presentation consists of guitars, banjo, mandolin, upright bass, and of course the trademark rich blend of their four voices. An evening with this quartet is an unforgettable time of pure, acoustic music and entertainment.

Atmosphere: Mi Vida Loca Tour It’s a different place than it was two years ago, when Atmosphere released their last record, Fishing Blues. Their seventh album, Mi Vida Local, reflects the ways in which the world–and their place in it–has changed. The idyllic domesticity of the past few records has morphed into anxiety over keeping loved ones safe during turbulent times. The easygoing collaboration between Ant and Slug has started to feel more like the life-or-death intimacy of two men trapped together on a lifeboat. At times, Mi Vida Local is a heavy album, (“I might be the last generation of grandparents,” goes a key line from “Virgo”), but it’s far from grim. As the name implies, Mi Vida Local is intensely focused on the place it was created–the southside of Minneapolis–where Slug and Ant work tirelessly in their “beautiful basements”, refining their sound without interruption, save for a handful of Minneapolis friends that showed up to contribute. The album pairs complex subject matter with equally deep beats–ones that show a clear lineage back to the psychedelic funk landmarks from an earlier era where America was going through a post-utopian hangover, and prove that there won’t ever be a time where boom-bap beats […]

When she meets a bubbly blonde who is exceptionally popular, their initial rivalry turns into the unlikeliest of friendships…until the world decides to call one “good,” and the other one “wicked.” With a thrilling score that includes the hits “Defying Gravity,” “Popular” and “For Good,” Wicked has been hailed by The New York Times as “the defining musical of the decade.” Time Magazine cheers, “if every musical had the brain, the heart, and the courage of Wicked, Broadway really would be a magical place.”
INSIDE TOWER THEATRE LOUNGE Acoustic Guitar Adrian Legg is an English guitar player who has been called “impossible to categorize”. He plays custom guitars that are a hybrid of electric and acoustic, and his fingerstyle picking technique has been acknowledged by the readers of Guitar Player who voted Legg the “best acoustic fingerstyle” player four years in a row (1993–1996). In 1996 and 1997, Legg shared the stage with acclaimed guitar experts Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson and Steve Vai as part of the G3 tour. Vai called Legg “Uncle Adrian” and Satriani said of Legg’s musicianship “He’s simply the best acoustic guitar player I’ve ever heard. I don’t know anyone else who can create such a cascade of beautiful notes… Adrian plays like he’s got hammers for fingers.” As an artist who defies definition, the best way to understand the magic of the multi-talented Adrian Legg is to experience him firsthand, something that is profoundly gratifying on many levels.

Over the past 20 years, the worship music movement has become the forefront of Christian music as an industry. Nearly every artist has left his or her mark on it over the years, contributing to a rich tapestry of musical expression all aimed at directly praising God—either as individuals or as a corporate body. But it’s a genre Steven Curtis Chapman, who has earned more awards than any single recording artist in Christian music history, has never contributed to—until now. Scripture and worship music have been lifelines for Chapman during the past several years as his family has grieved the loss of his youngest daughter, Maria, in an accident on May 21, 2008. It’s from that place of suffering and surrender Chapman began to write songs to illuminate promises of God and declare truths from Scripture. From the anthemic “We Believe” to the tender “Hallelujah, You Are Good” to the triumphant “King of Love” and hopeful “God of Forever,” these songs mark a new season for Chapman — creating more vertically focused worship songs spurred on by a soul awakening to worship music he experienced as he held fast to songs of the church through a season of loss.

Before Mötley Crüe, before RATT, even before there was a Metallica, Y&T was slogging away in sweaty rock clubs around America. When the band formed in the early 1970s, little did they know they would set the standard for hard rock bands that trailed. Many of the biggest acts of the ’80s became popular opening for headliners Y&T—and cut their teeth on the band, as evidenced by the Y&T mentions in tell-all books by acts such as Metallica and Mötley Crüe. After five top 100 albums, songs that tipped into the 40s, two Bammie Awards, and many international television appearances, Y&T’s hits are still played on VH1 Classic and classic rock radio stations worldwide. www.youtube.com/YandTRocks
